The Vera Nedkova House Museum
2, 11th August St.
A year ago, from 22 December 2016 to 26 February 2017, the National Gallery marked the 110th jubilee of the great Bulgarian artist with an exhibition in 15 of the Palace halls, presenting her entire oeuvre from the earliest drawings to the latest works of the early 1990s.
The new exposition in the House Museum includes paintings created by the artist between 1922 and 1933. They trace her creative path: from the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts (1923–1930) as a student of Prof. Karl Sterrer and her stay in Italy during 1931 to her participation in the 54th Annual Exhibition in the halls of the Künstlerhaus in the Austrian capital.
Some of the paintings are shown for the first time. They form part of the bequest that Vera Nedkova made in 1995 to the National Gallery.
